The Vélez Lab welcomes highly motivated people interested in gaining firsthand research experience in animal behavior, animal communication, sensory ecology, sensory biology, and neurophysiology. If you are interested in joining the lab, familiarize yourself with the projects we're working on by going over our research page, read a few of our publications, and contact Dr. Vélez. If you are an undergraduate student at UTK, please fill out an application form at the end of this page.
Undergraduate Students
Students interested in pursuing a career in science or in the healthcare industry are encouraged to join a research lab early on. Priority to join our lab will be given to Neuroscience and Psychology majors who have at least two semesters before graduation. Undergraduate students are expected to be in the lab for at least two semesters, the first one as a volunteer. After the first semester in the lab, undergraduate students can obtain credits for working on a research project in the lab.
